The first Sunday of décembre

The first Sunday of every month, all Bordeaux museums have free admission. Katie and I decided to wake up early and brave the cold on our new bikes to check out the Musée d'Aquitaine which is one of the city's largest. The museum's exhibits spanned from the cavemen to modern day. Here are just some of the highlights.

Caveman Fossils: The information sheet in the background said that the skull on the left was an ancestor of Africans, the middle was an ancestor of Caucasians, and the right was an ancestor of Asians.

Ancient Bling: earrings, necklace and bracelet made of animal teeth

There were lots of arrowheads in all shapes, colors and sizes.

Ancient money

On the left, a symbol carved into a stone similar to the current symbol of the city of Bordeaux. I thought it looked really cool. On the right, a stone carving of a fleur-de-lis.

This was huge, hard to tell in this picture. It used to hold a stain glass window in a cathedral.

Museuming and biking can make you hungry. We found a place that had Kebob's for 2 euros! Sold.

After lunch, we biked along the Garonne River which divides the city. Here is Pont de Pierre Bridge.

Katie and I both really like this picture.
Place de la Bourse in the reflection of the Miroir d’Eau (Water Mirror).

After riding around all day, we felt that we had frozen enough for one day, so we headed home to have some dinner. I ran to a local Sud-Ouest Boulangerie that we found near our house and got a delicious and famous French baguette. Not pictured are the pork chops with Dijon mustard and rosemary. For desert, we have some left over homemade crêpes from breakfast that I had made with Nutella. The crêpes were supposed to be pancakes but I misread the directions and added a little too much of this and that but they ended up tasting like crêpes!
