Fiers d’être Aquitains

Since we don't have to work on Fridays, Katie and I decided to go to the Fiers d’être Aquitains (Proud to be from the Aquitaine region), which was a small market type event that we could taste many different specialties of the area including: chicken, cheeses, fish soup, piment (peppers), and much more.

Fiers d’être Aquitains was held at a local government council building.

Katie warms up with some yummy fish soup!

A view of the fair.

Black Gold, but I am not talking about texas tea/oil. Black Truffles for sale, only 89 euros per 100 grams (That's 890 euros per kilo or $580 per pound). Now that is some expensive fungus!!!

Local cheeses to taste, mmmmmm.

Piment Vert et Rouge (Green and Red peppers). The green piments were available to taste. They had been sautéed and salted. Delicious.

"Chestnuts roasting on an open fire..."

After exploring the market and getting pretty cold, Katie and I headed inside the building to find free hot coffee and dessert. Also, there was a scavenger hunt type of game that you could play to win prizes such as a vacation, dinner for two, and more. We had to follow the signs throughout the building to play. As you can see above, they were in French. Katie and I were able to figure many of the clues and the ones we didn't, made an educated guess. Fingers crossed that we win something!!
