Lisboa, Portugal

Lisboa (Lisbon), Portugal. If you are limited in time in Portugal, check out Oporto (porto) more than heading to Lisboa. Oporto is much more enchanting in my opinion. Lisboa does have is draws though...monuments, castle, inexpensive restaurants/cafés and Pasteis de Bélem (keep reading to find out more).

Not Charlie's Angels, this is Bennie's Angel.

Sometimes sight seeing can get boring at a certain point, then you start to get creative with your pictures. Here Katie is mid-air Indiana Jones style (queue the music) jumping over a dried up fountain.

Communist hammer and sickle? huh?

The seafood was amazing and fresh looking

Cathedral in Bélem a suburb of Lisboa.

Karate action Katie!

If you happen to find yourself in Lisboa at some point in your life, you MUST go to the suburb called Bélem to go eat at Pasteis de Bélem! Wait in the line to the right hand side and order at least FIVE pasteis de Bélém for yourself. Or go inside as there's tons of tables once you pass the initial room. These things are life altering good!!! It's a phylo-dough cup probably doused with butter then filled with the fluffiest french toast filling you have ever tasted in your life and it is all cooked to perfection then topped with powdered sugar and cinnamon.

This is the first round. Katie and I ordered two to begin with...

...then I said if we don't get more I will regret it for the rest of my life! We got some more!

The European old man walk. If you come to Europe on vacation, look around at the men of the older generation taking a stroll. Bet you anything they are walking like this man in the picture above. Portugal, France, Spain - all the same way. I am working on perfecting my form so I can show off this stroll when I come back to the states.

Check this place out if you are in Lisboa. http://www.viniportugal.pt/ It's right off of Placa do Comercio. This was a real cool tasting room to educate people on Portuguese wine, there's more than port wine in Portugal. At the end of the tasting, you got to vote on your favorite.

This was by far the winner! Slight purpish red in appearance. On the nose, hints of leather, coffee, cinnamon with a nice lasting finish. Definitely could age a few more years in the bottle or needs to be decanted for a few hours before drinking now.

Lisboa is know for their painted tiles on buildings and really everywhere.

Castelo de Sao Jorge. Old castle on the hill overlooking the city.

A narrow street of old city, Alfama.

A view out from the old city.
