Gevrey Chambertin

A stop on the way to Beaune. This is one of the famous wine appelations of the Burgundy region.

Château Gevrey Chambertin

Not kidding, it said to ring the bell (literally).

We went on a visit of the château. Beautiful view.

Vineyards as far as the eye could see.

In town we stopped at le caveau de Philippe LeClerc.

The tasting of some great pinot noir from different vineyards plots around the area. Gevrey Chambertin wines we tasted were very tannic, I assume due to the terroir. This is quite odd from the pinots that we have tasted in the states, but I loved them. They were tannic but fruit still showed through. Little too tannic for Katie. The wines still needed some time in the cave for the tannins to settle down.

The tasting room was full of traditional wine artifacts. Real cool looking.

Life is beautiful.
